VICE PRESIDENT FOR ORGANIZATIONS

Harper
Tran

As a club leader and member, I know that the best student organizations thrive when they have accessible resources, strong connections with other clubs, and transparent systems they can trust. I'm running for Vice President for Organizations to build that foundation for all 850+ CIOs at UVA.

Stability

PILLAR ONE

1. Smooth Transition from Presence to Anthology

Lead UVA's transition to the new Anthology platform by developing comprehensive transition guides, training CIO Consultants, coordinating with Student Engagement, and integrating Anthology into Activities Fair through QR code signups—ensuring CIOs can seamlessly manage finances, membership, and events on the faster, more reliable system.

2. Create a Centralized CIO Canvas Page

Transform the Student Engagement Canvas page into the main trusted hub for CIO leaders by updating outdated materials, adding a New CIO Starter Kit with checklists and video content, and revamping the CIO Finances Guide to ensure all CIO presidents and treasurers have access to current, visually appealing resources.

3. Build Personal Connectivity Between CIOs

Foster collaboration among UVA's 850+ CIOs by restructuring the CIO Summit to include networking opportunities, creating accessible leadership contact lists, establishing GroupMe channels organized by CIO type, and building a universal CIO leaders GroupMe to coordinate events, share resources, and promote cross-organization partnerships.

PILLAR TWO

Vision

1. Revitalize CIO Consultants Branch

Refocus CIO Consultants on supporting new organizations, improving CIO connectivity, and developing accessible resources by co-creating a clear mission statement, establishing defined focus areas, integrating consultants into CIO Canvas page maintenance, and implementing regular feedback from CIO leaders to ensure effective support.

2. Continuous Raise of the Student Acitivites Fee (SAF)

Advocate for continuous, strategic increases to the Student Activities Fee to close the funding gap between what CIOs request and what Student Council can provide, ensuring student organizations can deliver vibrant programming without being forced to cut events or rely heavily on external fundraising.

3. Enhance the Activities Fair Experience

Make the Activities Fair more accessible and navigable by developing a virtual interactive map with the Data Science Committee showing CIO locations and categories, distributing QR codes on marketing materials, and helping thousands of students easily find organizations that match their interests.

Justice

PILLAR THREE

1.Publish Transparent CIO Funding Data

Make CIO funding decisions visible and understandable by publishing a public funding dashboard on the Student Council website that visualizes allocation data, historical trends, funding constraints, and explanations—reducing mistrust and helping organizations understand their allocations.

2. Expand Board of Audit and Management (BAM) Responsibilities

Strengthen financial accountability by empowering BAM to oversee internal Student Council budgets, review CFO and Finance Committee work, flag underutilized funds, and recommend reallocations to CIO funding—ensuring money doesn't sit unused while organizations face shortages.

3. Modernize and Develop Resources for CIOs

Replace outdated CIO guides (some unchanged since 2021) with clear, modern resources including a CIO Starter Kit with timelines and checklists, step-by-step slideshows, short-form videos, and centralized housing on the CIO Canvas page—making it easier for new leaders to navigate funding, space reservations, and administrative processes.
