VICE PRESIDENT FOR ADMINISTRATION

Saehee
Perez

As Chief of Cabinet, I've watched Student Council change lives through mini-grants, meal kits, and emergency aid—now I'm running for VPA to make that impact faster, more transparent, and accessible to every student.

Stability

PILLAR ONE

1. Enhance Student Council Transparency and Accessibility

Overhaul Student Council's website to provide clear explanations of how each branch works, publish regular legislative recaps, and ensure all information stays current and accessible—moving beyond broken links and outdated descriptions to make Student Council functions truly transparent to students.

2. Develop a Student Financial Resource Hub

Create a comprehensive one-stop guide compiling alumni grants, academic department funding, external sponsorships, University resources like the Jefferson Trust and emergency grants, and cost-saving programs with clear application processes so students understand exactly how to access financial support.

3. Strengthen Budget Oversight and Utilization

Reshape the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) role to include regular check-ins on utilization rates and agency budgeting, publish budget reports at the start of each year, establish set timelines for budget processes starting in summer, and make budget utilization data publicly available to ensure fiscal responsibility and transparency.

PILLAR TWO

Vision

1. Restructure Student Council's Year-Round Timeline

Implement an accelerated recruiting and onboarding calendar with new directors appointed by early April, general member applications opened by Fall Activities Fair, mandatory membership summits within one week of acceptances, and new director training completed before the school year ends—minimizing transition delays and getting resources to students faster.

2. Launch Financial Literacy & Grant Writing Workshops

Host comprehensive workshops equipping students and CIOs with skills to write strong funding proposals and budgets, find external grants and sponsorships, and navigate UVA's funding processes efficiently—empowering organizations to maximize their financial resources.

3. Expand Support for Underrepresented Communities

Increase Native American representation through direct outreach to Indigenous student groups, build formal partnerships with local Native communities, advocate for university-backed scholarships for Native students, and implement a Technology Grant for Pell Grant and limited-income students ensuring access to laptops, software, and reliable internet.

PILLAR THREE

Justice

1. Lobby for Equitable Access to Arts Facilities and Funding

Advocate for equitable reservation access to arts facilities and push for additional funding to arts departments, ensuring students pursuing creative work have the resources and spaces they need to thrive.

2. Increase  Financial Aid Transparency and Accessibility

Partner with Legislative Affairs to advocate for increased transparency in financial aid processes, host Financial Accessibility Week to educate students about available resources, and continue fighting for clearer dependency override processes and emergency aid accessibility.

3. Strengthen Grassroots Partnerships and Student Advocacy

Build formal collaborations with grassroots organizations, host roundtables twice per semester to elevate student concerns, increase Student Council's presence with administration, and expand diversity engagement beyond just ethnic/cultural organizations to include LGBTQ+ advocacy and disability justice initiatives.
